Ann Kerr-Adams, a longtime Palisadian, will speak on “The Middle East, Then and Now: Reflections from a Lifetime of Adventures in Lebanon, Egypt, North Africa and the Holy Land.”

She will discuss the Middle East she has known from her student days in the 1950s to the present day. Kerr-Adams has no solution to offer for the crises that exist in the region today but hopes to shed light on some of the causes behind them.

A graduate of Occidental College and the American Universities in Beirut and Cairo, Kerr-Adams later taught at both universities. She is currently at UCLA, where she has coordinated the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Program since 1991.

In addition, Kerr-Adams is an emerita member of the board of trustees for the American Universities in Beirut and Ku- wait, and a member of the President’s Council of Earth University in Costa Rica and the advisory board of the Rand Center for Middle East Public Policy.

She helped form the Leadership Coun- cil for Churches for Middle East Peace, a Washington, D.C.-based group representing mainline churches that support a balanced view of Arab-Israeli peace. She is also the author of two books on her life in that region.
