Organ Festival to Begin in the Palisades Feb. 20

The 10th Annual Los Angeles Presidents’ Day Organ Festival will be held at four churches in Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20.

Presented by the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the event will feature five pipe organs and nine artists. The performances are free to the public and a box lunch is available for $10 with an advance reservation (laago.org).

At the first location, coffee and pastries will be served at 9 a.m. at Saint Matthew’s parish, with the performance beginning at 9:30 (through 10:45). The church is located at 1031 Bienveneda Ave.

From 11 a.m. to noon, the second performance will take place at Corpus Christi Church, 880 Toyopa Dr.

A short drive to the First Presbyterian Church, 1220 2nd Street in Santa Monica, will bring audience mem- bers to the third performance, which begins at 1:30. Box lunches will be available from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

From 2:15 to 3:30 p.m., the concert site switches to the First United Methodist Church, 1008 11th Street. A reception will follow this performance.

The featured artists include David Bull, Christoph Bull, Peter Green, Lisa Ham, Christoph Hintermuller, Hyeja Kim, Haesung Park, Mark Thallander and James Vail.

The music will highlight the work of nine Southern California composers: David Bull, Christoph Bull, Edwin Childs, Emma Lou Diemer, Norberto Guinaldo, Craig Phillips, Jan Sanborn, Mark Thallander and Alan Terricciano.
