Palisades Elementary School parent Dr. Angelica Hernandez will speak on “Keeping Our Children Safe” from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday, December 5, in the Palisades Branch Library community room.
Hernandez is a teacher, writer, researcher, artist and abuse survivor. Her talk will provide an intimate understanding of the complex issues surrounding sexual abuse. She graduated from UCLA with a master’s degree in psychological studies and a Ph.D. in social science.
Hernandez is an expert on adolescent same-sex relationships, sexual abuse, race and poverty; is currently working on a manuscript about the insidious nature of sexual abuse, child molestation and the toxicity of secrecy.
