Santa Monica’s Bambino App Wins Support

Bambino Technologies, Inc., which has developed a mobile app that allows parents to book babysitters, was recognized on Sept. 22 as one of the top 20 companies to Startup Grind’s class of the Startup Program SoCal.

Bambino is one of the elite group of companies in AI, cloud computing, financial services and enterprise that was hand-picked to participate in this program, according to a Startup Grind press release.

Bambino, headquartered in Santa Monica, was founded in May of 2015 by Pacific Palisades resident Sean Greene, a 20-year veteran in the print and online marketing sector. Fellow Palisadian Carolyn Rodeno is director of community engagement and communications.

“As a startup, we are focused on continuing to serve our current markets while expanding our offering throughout Southern California, and the Startup Program will help us continue down that path,” said Greene, Bambino’s CEO. “We are excited to be part of the Startup Grind family and for the opportunity to showcase our app that is already helping hundreds of busy families find quality, trusted sitters who are recommended by their friends and neighbors.”

Parents enter the booking details, date and time, and preview available sitters (usually local high school kids). Afterwards, parents can pay and rate the sitter via the app.

“Bambino is babysitting made easy,” Greene said. (To read more about the company, go to PalisadesNews.com, June 15, 2016 issue.)

Founded in Silicon Valley, Startup Grind nurtures startups in 80 countries through events, media and partnerships with organizations like Google for Entrepreneurs. The company actively helps startups like Bambino find mentorship, connect to partners and hires, pursue funding and reach new users.

“We started this program after seeing many of the Accelerators and Incubators not doing much to really help companies,” said Derek Andersen, founder & CEO of Startup Grind. “We really wanted to make an actual difference in the startups’ trajectory and leverage all of our resources and network to their advantage.”

Andersen said that of the thousands of startups that applied for the Startup Program, Bambino was selected because of “great teams, traction, technology and massive markets. The company will help Bambino with a game plan, mentors and resources.

“Our biggest goal is for each startup to have an improved game plan that would not have happened without the help of the program and the mentors/resources that were made available to them,” Anderson said.
