Travel photographer Wendy Windebank will be the speaker at the next Food for Thought at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Palisades Presbyterian Church, corner of Sunset and El Medio. There is a complimentary lunch, but reservations are necessary. Call (310) 454-0366 or email syljonboyd@gmail.com.
Windebank has travelled to more than 100 countries, many of which are available as Travel Slide Presentations that she gives to different groups and organizations in the Los Angeles area. One of the countries highlighted during her talk will be Cuba, with photos that illuminate Cuban history, culture, religions, lifestyles, traditions and museums.
There are photos of Hemingway’s house outside Havana en route to Vinales Valley (UNESCO) in western Cuba, scenery with karst topography, colorful houses, the diverse small farms and a homestay in Mercedes’ Casa Colonial. Also included are shots of Trinidad and the Valley of the Sugar Mills.
Windebank was born in South Africa because her grandparents immigrated to Johannesburg from England in the early 1900s. She married an Englishman, Richard, and the couple lived in the United Kingdom for 10 years, where their two sons, Jason and Piers, were born. They moved to Pacific Palisades in 1984.
