Six-year-old Mia Morena decided to do her part to help raise funds for the Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH).
With her dad Brian’s help, she built a lemonade stand during the summer. Her mom, Veronica, helped her make the lemonade, and with her two-year-old sister Isla’s help, she sold drinks one Saturday at the family home in Santa Monica.
With the sign above her stand proclaiming “Proceeds for the Homeless,” Mia, a first grader at Grant School, raised $36.55.

PPTFH treasurer David Morena took his granddaughter, Mia, and her nine-year-old brother Luca to Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC), where they presented the money to Dr. Christina Miller, the associate director for OPCC, and to Kait Peters, the development director.
“This is touching and thinking outside of the box,” David said about Mia, who came up with the idea by herself.
