California Incline Replacement Project Completion Date Pushed Till End of Summer

Engineers working on the California Incline replacement say that unanticipated complexities with the bridge during construction pushed back the completion date till end of summer.

According to engineers, the false work and formwork design and installation were more intricate and time consuming than originally anticipated.  The severe grades and limited space on the false work limited crew sizes and precluded the ability of multiple crews working concurrently.

The work remaining includes:

  • Install rebar and pour concrete for deck, stem wall and stairs
  • Remove false work & forms
  • Rebuild the Idaho trail (concrete, lighting, fence, hand rail, drain line)
  • Handrail/Cable railing
  • Electrical
  • Grind, sack, and finish the bridge
