Marquez Halloween Festival
The annual Marquez Halloween Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23. The whole community is invited, and everyone attending in a costume will receive a free bag of popcorn.
The ever popular Haunted House will be populated with fifth-grade zombies to scare little goblins, a little or a lot. There will be a Creepy Café & Bake Sale and at 1 p.m. Fancy Feet dance crews will perform. A traditional cake walk, a cake baking competition, Ring Toss, Duck Pond, Lollipop Pull and a Win A Fish booths are all part of the fun.
Rec Center Spooktacular
The Palisades Recreation Center will host its traditional Halloween Spooktacular from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. The cost is $10 per child (cash only, no credit or debit cards).
The price of admission allows children into bounce houses, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo and the Reptacular reptile show.
There will be carnival games and prizes, crafts and a trick-or-treat path that features all sorts of tricks and all sorts of treats.
Food trucks will be available at an additional cost. Everyone is invited to come in costume.
Palisades Park Advisory Board member Madeline Hyman, who once again is helping to organize the event, is looking for volunteers. Community-service hours are available.

Y’s Pumpkin Patch Is Open Every Day
The Palisades-Malibu YMCA Pumpkin Patch will run through Oct. 30. There is a wide selection and varied sizes of pump- kins located at Simon Meadow, on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Can- yon Road. Free parking is available.
The Patch offers a hay maze, photo props and a bouncy house. Hours are Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds benefit the local Y, a nonprofit organization.
