The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s will present Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Purcell’s Concerto for Trumpet and Strings and the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah, at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 12 at St. Matthew’s Church, 1031 Bienveneda.
Featured in the Purcell concerto will be trumpeter David Searfoss, who serves as the principal trumpet for Pasadena Symphony and the Santa Clarita Symphony. He is also a regular substitute and extra trumpet for the LA Philharmonic and has been on recordings by the L.A. Philharmonic, L.A. Chamber Orchestra and the Pasadena Symphony.
An annual tradition of the Music Guild’s performance of Messiah, is to have the audience sing-along during the “Hallelujah chorus.”
