Via de la Paz from Sunset Boulevard to Bowdoin Street will undergo a scheduled four-week repaving starting on Wednesday, June 22.
After receiving a letter announcing this plan, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Arnie Wishnick and Palisades Americanism Parade Association President Daphne Gronich contacted Councilman Mike Bonin’s office and reminded them that the Fourth of July parade starts on Bowdoin and travels down Via de la Paz before turning right onto Sunset.
Wishnick and Gronich were promised that resurfacing will be completed before July 4 (eight working days).
The street will be cold milled prior to resurfacing. “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours before work begins. Although vehicles will have access during part of the project, no cars will be allowed when the street is coated with liquid asphalt.
Persons with mobility impediments and their caregivers can request assistance if the work limits their use. To request an accommodation, call (818) 756-8651 or (213) 847-3200.
Any businesses that are planning improvements that may require an excavation in the street must call the numbers above immediately. Once the street is resurfaced, any excavations within one year of the paving will be prohibited.
