10 Holiday Spots Near Pacific Palisades

Pacific Palisades has plenty to offer for its residents as well as visitors. Tucked in between canyons and beaches, this place is stunning in beauty and ideal for relaxation.

However, if you have been living in Palisades for a while, you might also want to check out some of the holiday spots near the neighborhood. Take a look at the destinations below to see where you should head out for your next getaway.

  1. Temescal Gateway Park

If your idea of a holiday involves nature and camping, the Temescal Gateway Park is an ideal spot to check out. It lies within the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and is one of the most popular parks in the Santa Monica mountains.

However, prior to setting out on your holiday, you might want to take care of the pending work and assignments. One of the top resources is a writing platform WritePaper.com; here you can get help with your academic work. It can offer you sample essays for virtually any subject and to meet the deadline and get to rest faster.

Now that you know how to get your assignments out of the way, let us give you some more info about the Temescal gateway park. The park encompasses 141 acres, and there are a few different trails suitable for hiking. There is even a Retreat Center in the park that provides accommodation. The park is also a popular spot for hosting weddings and other special events.

  1. Santa Monica

Those who turn to a city holiday would prefer Santa Monica to the Temescal. After all, it offers all the sophistication of urban life while still offering the laid-back ambiance of a beach spot.

You will find plenty to do here, whether you seek a dose of art and culture or clubbing fun. You can also lounge on the beach or go shopping at the Third Street Promenade. However, if you are in Pacific Palisades, you might not want to enjoy all that Santa Monica has to offer in one go, especially because this would be a perfect weekend getaway for you.

  1. Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles is another hub that you can consider for a short holiday. You have everything a city can offer here. There are famous galleries and museums, and when you need a break, you can go to the Grand Central Market to explore food.

You can also enjoy world-class theater and walk down the shopping streets. And you might also want to check out studios such as Paramount Pictures, Universal, and Warner Brothers that offer behind-the-scenes tours.

  1. Venice Beach

Venice Beach lies just a few miles south of Santa Monica. And for those who wish for a bohemian beach holiday, this neighborhood is definitely worth a trip. You can take a stroll along the iconic Venice boardwalk and engage with fortune-tellers and watch the street performers.

You can also cruise the canals to take a look at the historic murals. And if you travel inland, there you will find a long array of art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants.

  1. Morro Bay

Morro Bay might not be the most popular choice for holidays. But this can be a peaceful destination, away from the hustle and bustle of California cities. This coastal town has a quaint fishing village feel, with boats lined up along the harbor and restaurants dotting the waterfront. And of course, miles of the sandy beach too.

There is also the Morro Bay State Park, where you can hike, bike, sail, or go fishing or hiking. There is also a great campground here where you can set up a tent, RV, or trailer. And for those who want to explore nature further, you can also head out to the El Moro Elfin Forest, located in Los Osos, just south of Morro Bay.

  1. Paso Robles

Known for being a world-class wine region, Paso Robles is a fantastic holiday spot with over 40,000 vineyards and 200 tasting rooms. However, wine tasting isn’t the only thrills that await you here.

You can take a hot air balloon ride over the vineyards or go horseback riding. There are also several organic farms, ranches, and artisanal producers that you can visit to get an immersive experience. On top of this, you will also find hot springs, zoos, museums, breweries, and a long list of things that can keep you engaged during your holiday.

  1. Malibu

Although known for its wealth and star quotient, Malibu is best enjoyed through its natural assets. The Point Dume State Beach and Preserve offers you a long expanse of sandy beaches with steep cliffs as the backdrop. There are also a few different beaches that are tucked away to relax, get some sun, or catch a fish.

If the wild nature is what excites you, you can go for the hiking trail that starts at the Pacific Coast Highway. It will take you to one of the most magnificent waterfalls in California, the Escondido falls. And of course, you can also explore the urban area, its shopping streets, latest restaurants and clubs to enjoy a well-rounded vacation.

  1. Santa Catalina Island

Santa Catalina Island has been an attractive vacation spot for Californians since the 1920s. It has been featured in many Hollywood films, and the cinematic seaside beauty is still preserved. The pace here is quite leisurely, the weather sunny and pleasant.

The island is perfect for a quick getaway from Pacific Palisades and a great spot to hang out with friends. You can take your pick of recreational or relaxational activity, be it hiking, cycling, sunbathing, or picnic. The island is also home to picturesque towns such as Avalon that feature hotels, resorts, restaurants, and more. However, to get here, you have to take an hour-long ferry ride from San Pedro.

  1. Ojai

Ojai is another quaint town with all the typical traits of California. As with other places listed here, Ojai offers a combination of tasting rooms, hiking trails, and stunning sceneries. The place is set against the dramatic backdrop of the beautiful Topatopa Mountain.

One of the most famous spots in Ojai is the world’s largest outdoor bookstore. Bart’s Book has been selling books since 1964 and has over 130,000 books in its shop. You can find a book on practically any topic you can think of, whether you are a student or simply an avid reader.

  1. La Jolla

La Jolla is a holiday spot for you if you like snorkeling. The rocky beach of La Jolla Cove is quite famous for this. You can also find tide pools here filled with an array of marine creatures.

And interestingly, La Jolla also has a gliding station on the high cliffs. You can learn from the local paragliding instructors or bring your own kit if you are sufficiently experienced.

As you can see, if you live in Pacific Palisades, you have plenty of spots around you to keep you occupied. Whether you are looking for a day trip, a weekend getaway, or a relaxing holiday, you can take your pick from the long list of activities.
