Gladstone’s Unveils New Summer Menu and Cocktail Offerings

This Comes Several Months After the Restaurant’s Staff Joined Forces for a New Type of Ownership

The historic beachside restaurant Gladstone’s has launched a new summer menu and cocktail offerings.

The unveiling comes several months after the restaurant’s staff joined forces among themselves to create a new type of ownership for the Pacific Palisades outpost. The “Gladstone’s Legacy Group” came together once it became clear there would be a two-year absence at Gladstone’s space. The county had approached its staff to ask if they could carry on for community benefit.

“The group has introduced a fresh approach to the dining experience and menu, partnering with local farms and specialty vendors such as Häsi Artisan Bread, Ho.Listic Operations, Santa Monica Seafood, West Coast Seafood, First Light Farms New Zealand, Bozzini Farms, and Fluffy McCloud’s organic ice cream.” stated a press release from the restaurant.

The new summer menu includes:

  • Summer at The Stone Salad: Peaches, Rainier cherries, goat cheese, garden greens, Häsi Bread maple sumac croutons, tropical vinaigrette.
  • Can’t Be Beets: Roasted beets, baby spinach, feta cheese, candied walnuts, lemon poppy seed dressing.
  • Coastal Crab Cake: Blue crab claw meat, rustic breadcrumbs, chipotle aioli, fennel and orchid salad.
  • Surf and Sand Dabs: Local sand dabs, scalloped potatoes au gratin, haricot vert, lemon caper sauce, micro radish from Ho.Listic.
  • Deep Dive Risotto: New England Diver Scallops, spinach risotto, seasonal vegetables, chive oil.
  • Turf and Tomatoes: New Zealand grass-fed wagyu skirt steak, shaved brussel sprout salad, blistered tomatoes, Romanesco.
  • Dick’s Summer Split: Caramelized banana, Fluffy McCloud’s chocolate and vanilla ice cream, house-made whipped cream, fresh summer berries.

The new cocktail offerings include The Sun Also Rises, The Lovely One, and the Golden Summer Sunset, featuring blends of premium spirits and summer flavors. A notable dessert, the banana split, pays homage to former Gladstones owner and Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.

“Gladstone’s Legacy Group” will operate Gladstone’s while Wolfgang Puck is set to rebuild it in the coming years with his own vision. Puck previously said he will deliver the new restaurant replacement with an “approachable, high-quality cuisine in a distinct architectural setting”. Architect Frank Gehry, the man behind its upcoming design, is an award-winning architect behind projects such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (called “the greatest building of our time” by Philip Johnson) and the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
