Concertmaster Yueun Gemma Kim Will Take on Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin in D Minor
The season finale of the Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s is scheduled for May 31 at 8 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Church.
The event opens with Aaron Copland’s iconic “Music for Movies.” Drawing from Copland’s celebrated soundtracks for “The City,” “Our Town,” and “Of Mice and Men,” the suite encapsulates the essence of Copland’s distinctive “Americana” style, setting the stage for an enchanting musical journey.
The spotlight then shifts to the Concertmaster, YuEun Gemma Kim, as she takes on Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin in D minor.
Rounding off the evening in grandeur, the Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s, along with the Choir and Soloists of St. Matthew’s Parish, will deliver a performance of Mozart’s “Solemn Vespers”.
All performances of the Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s take place at St. Matthew’s Church in Pacific Palisades, offering an intimate setting for an immersive musical experience. Prior to each concert (except in October), attendees can enjoy “Liner Notes with Tom Neenan” at 7:10 pm in the church, enriching their understanding of the repertoire and enhancing their concert experience.
As a reminder, latecomers will be accommodated at the discretion of the ushers between compositions, ensuring minimal disruption to the musical flow.
